The stakes are high for Bethesda coming into E3 2019. What will be only its fifth-ever press conference at the annual expo will also be its most pivotal, as the publisher comes off a year marred by controversy surrounding Fallout 76.

That string of PR disasters in late 2018, ranging from nylon bags and half-baked features to hacking concerns and compromised player data, damaged the reputation of one of gaming’s most beloved companies. Now, the E3 stage presents Bethesda with an opportunity to regain its footing and chase away the ghosts of Vault 76. But in order to do so, it will have to rely on the breadth of its internal development studios.
