Readers of The Walking Dead are no strangers to tragic plot twists. Few survive the zombie apocalypse for long, and that includes many of the most popular characters in the series. Few characters who were at the forefront of the series early on are still alive today. And with the death of Rick Grimes in the latest issue, that number has dwindled even further. But Rick’s death shouldn’t be cause for despair. It’s actually the most promising development to occur in the comic in a long while.
