Destiny 2 will transition from a first-person shooter game to an action MMO offering a free-to-play model called New Light.
General Manager, Mark Noseworthy and Game Director, Luke Smith spoke further about the future of Destiny 2 and Shadowkeep in a Bungie live stream on Thursday.
Bungie will be cutting down on the various versions of the game that are currently out now, instead offering a la carte versions in order to make things less complicated for those interested in different expansions – including no longer having the Annual Pass.
Instead, players will now be able to jump into the different modes they want to with New Light – after a short 20 minute beginning mission – without having to go through all of the expansions, unlocking them, or buying them in bundles. Similar to the MMO models such as Elder Scrolls Online.
