From GameWatcher: “Back in May 2015, Derby, UK-based studio Playtonic Games announced a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for Yooka-Laylee, an unabashed homage and spiritual sequel to the Nintendo 64 classic Banjo-Kazooie. They were uniquely qualified to attempt such a game, as they were comprised of developers who worked on the Rare classic as well as Donkey Kong Country.
The game earned mixed reviews, with the PC version getting a 73 Metacritic, with reviews ranging from glowing to somewhat disappointed; generally, there were no truly scathing reviews. However, enough people enjoyed the game that publisher Team17 has ordered up a sequel, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair.”
