At AMD’s E3 2019 press conference, President and CEO Dr. Lisa Su noted how after her Computex presentation people asked her “is that all?” She continued, “gamers are never satisfied,” and sure enough, the 12-core R9 3900X wasn’t all AMD had to announce, as Su revealed AMD also has a brand new 16 core Ryzen 2 processor.

Meet the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X, a 16 core and 32 thread processor featuring a 3.5GHz base clock and 4.7GHz boost clock. This amped up chip also demands 105W thermal design power, but its power needs are much lower than those found on other high-end desktop processors. For example, the AMD 16 core Ryzen Threadripper 2950X and Intel 16 core i9-7960X have rated TDPs of 180W and 165W, respectively.
