The upcoming Dune reboot from director Denis Villeneuve will be the start of a larger franchise based on author Frank Herbert’s novels.

Following a report fromĀ Variety, we’ve confirmedĀ that WarnerMedia has given a straight-to-series order for Dune: The Sisterhood. The series will be exclusive to the upcoming WarnerMedia streaming platform.

Dune: The Sisterhood will focus on the Bene Gesserit, a powerful, all-female religious order that serves as one of the major political forces in the Dune universe. Several characters in the upcoming movie are members of the Bene Gesserit, including Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) and Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohaim (Charlotte Rampling). It’s unknown when exactly in the Dune timeline the series will be set or if any of the actors from the film might reprise their roles for the series.
