In a report that sounds like it was ripped straight from a sci-fi movie, scientists have unexpectedly discovered a massive blob under the surface of the moon. Emphasis on massive — it’s five times the size of the 75.91-mile wide Big Island of Hawaii and would weigh roughly 4.8 quintillion pounds on Earth.
According to a study published by a group of scientists in Geophysical Research Letters, the subsurface mass was discovered on the dark side of the moon 180 miles beneath the surface of its largest crater called the South Pole-Aitkin basin.
