Since its release in 1995, The Settlers of Catan has developed a strong following. The board game centers on expanding colonies on the titular island of Catan and gained popularity through its simple to learn but complex to master mechanics, eventually finding its way into many households and game rooms.
Now, you don’t have to set up the board in order to play, as Catan launches on Nintendo Switch today. There have been other video game versions of Catan in the past, but they received mixed reviews due to manipulative AI, crashes, and content locked behind paywalls. We’ll have to see if the Switch version does anything to address these issues.
