Scrawl is available on TVOD and DVD (Walmart Only).
It almost seems unfair to have to critique 2015’s Scrawl, a indie horror film crewed by young college students and written/directed by their professor, Peter Hearn. It’s 75 minutes long, clearly shot on a next-to-nothing budget, and nearly impossible to follow. So why are we talking about it? Let’s address the bantha in the room: the only reason it got distribution, I watched it, and you’re reading this is because Scrawl had the blind luck of having Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley as part of its cast just before J.J. Abrams discovered her for the lead role in The Force Awakens.
Its release is an attempt to cash in on Ridley’s name and the movie itself is more or less unwatchable. It’s a miracle that any film gets made, it is an incredibly hard endeavor, but if you’re here wondering if this movie is worth your time and money, it is absolutely not.
