Whoa. The British game-buying public has succeeded in knocking their beloved bandicoot Crash off of the top slot of the UK charts after just one week, replacing him with O.G mascot Mario and his creative platform-builder Super Mario Maker 2.
The new Nintendo release was one of three games to debut in the top five this week, alongside Codemasters’ F1 2019 at number three and Sega’s high-kicking detective adventure Judgment at number four. Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled has managed to grip onto second place, so don’t count that title out just yet. But for this week, at any rate, the podium belongs to the plumber.
Elsewhere in the charts, Frogwares’ creepy mystery The Sinking City just fell outside the top ten at number 13, while the somewhat niche Car Mechanic Simulator from Ravenscourt showed up at number 23. After a slow start, Igarashi’s non-Castlevania title Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night also succeeded in poking its way into the top ten.The weirdest shift this week saw Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey leap from number 34 to number eight in just one week, not doubt helped by in-store promotions.
