Video game mental health organization, Take This, has released a detailed paper on the state of mental health in the games industry. The “white paper” reveals statistics that help give context to the increasing number of stories about harmful workplace practices in the games industry. And there are some surprising findings inside.

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in how working in the video game industry affects the mental health of the developers who make games. Stories about crunch (or the systemic overworking of employees) have been gaining prominence in recent years, but it’s still hard to find data on how crunch actually affects the industry beyond personal anecdotes.
