Oscar winner Javier Bardem is the latest name being attached to Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid.
According to The DisInsider, Bardem is reportedly currently in talks to play the role of King Triton, the famously overprotective (albeit well meaning) father of Ariel, who will be portrayed by singer-actor Halle Bailey in the upcoming remake.
This wouldn’t be a completely fish-out-of-water role for Bardem, as he is well known for playing imposing figures on the silver screen, having previously portrayed the ultra-chilling cyber-terrorist Raoul Silva in Skyfall, and Captain Salazar, the fearsome pirate-hunter in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
