After closing the last of its stores in June 2018, Toys R Us is set to return in the U.S. this holiday season. The two new stores will be opened in Houston, TX, and Paramus, NJ, parent company Tru Kids Brands announced today.
The new stores are being opened as part of a new partnership between Tru Kids and b8ta, a “software-powered experiential” retail company. The two companies plan to open additional U.S. stores outside of Houston and Paramus in 2020.
The new Toys R Us is described as “highly interactive,” with a focus on “product discovery and engagement.” To accomplish this, the stores will feature daily activities, out-of-box toys for customer testing, open space for free play, and “brand stations.” Specific brand partners will be announced in “the coming weeks,” according to Tru Kids.
