As you may have heard, Destiny 2‘s next expansion (and free-to-play shell) Shadowkeep has been delayed. Just by a few weeks mind, and Bungie is going to shift its road map around a little to compensate.
Calling it “ending on a high note,” a new blog re-iterates that multiple events (like Iron Banner) will be repeated before the end of the season, and provides a new detailed calendar/road map for what’s happening between now and October 1: when Shadowkeep launches. The Solstice of Heroes will run through August 27, at which point the first Iron Banner event will kick off through September 3.
Then update 2.5.2.2 (patch notes below) will drop sometime between September 3 through 10, followed by a Moments of Triumph Week/Infamy (Gambit ranking) boost for a week. Then the second Iron Banner run will pick up on September 17 for one week, with a big Mayhem, Valor, and Infamy boost happening from September 24 through October 1. Then Shadowkeep hits on that same day!
We’re officially in the “cleanup” era of a live service game’s lifecycle right before a new expansion hits. Most of this outside of the Solstice consists of repeated events and “double XP weekend” boosts, so if you desire some hard-earned (hah) time off until Shadowkeep, take it. Or keep powering through to get that Moments of Triumph t-shirt.
