If I had to make a “top 10 best anime of all time” list, the Record of Lodoss War OVA series (sorry, Spark) would probably be on it. With a timeless animation style it really nails the feel of a Tolkien-esque adventure in all the right ways, backed up by a strong supporting cast.

One of those cast members is Deedlit: a high elf who doesn’t take crap from anyone. Her memorable traits and character design have lived on for all these years even when the series remained dormant (sporadic manga volumes are about all we get now), and the reason why she’s headlining a brand new Record of Lodoss War game.

Helmed by a studio called “Team Ladybug” the project was announced last year, and subsequently retreated into the shadows. Thankfully this week we got a pretty big update on the game, most notably a plan to launch the game on Steam Early Access this fall, with a “spring 2020” target for the final build. The project is a 2D platformer that makes use of Deedlit’s close combat and magic prowess, taking her through a shifting labyrinth.

A pair of new low-res screenshots were shared on the announcement page, and the team also reposted their trailer from mid-2018.
