According to Deadline, which first broke the news, Benioff and Weiss’s deal reportedly landed in the 9-digit range, similar to the rumored deals Netflix has struck with other high-profile showrunners including Shonda Rhimes, Ryan Murphy, and Kenya Barris. The pact with Netflix marks the end of a competitive race between six studios (including WarnerMedia, Disney, Comcast, Amazon, and Apple) to court the producers following the conclusion of Game of Thrones in May. According to THR, the deal may be worth $200 million, and Netflix’s closest competitor to land Benioff and Weiss was Apple.
