Marvel Comics only recently debuted House of X and Powers of X, two interconnected miniseries aimed at radically reshaping the X-Men line. And already the these books are having a huge impact on the past, present and future of the mutant race. House of X #2 introduces one of the biggest X-Men plot twists in years, as Dr. Moira MacTaggert’s deepest secrets are finally revealed.
Read on for a full breakdown of this issue and the new revelations about Moira and Charles Xavier. But beware of major spoilers ahead!
Who Is Moira X?
This issue builds on an encounter between Moira and Professor X in last week’s Powers of X #1, the same encounter Marvel previously teased as being “the most important scene in X-Men history.” Only now do readers learn what Xavier saw when he read Moira’s mind. It turns out that Moira – long depicted as being one of the few humans completely loyal to the X-Men – is actually a mutant. Because of her odd, unnatural state of existence, her mutant status has never been detected before. Whenever she dies, Moira is reincarnated in utero, forced to relive her life all over again.
