Dead Island 2 developer Sumo Digital has concluded work on the project, and will not be working with new developer Dambuster Studios as work continues on the long-standing zombie game.

In a statement to IGN, Sumo Digital said “As noted in today’s announcement, Dambuster Studios is now the lead developer for Dead Island 2. This transition has been planned for some time and has no impact on Sumo’s business or financial outlook. We look forward to Dead Island 2’s release and we wish our partners at THQ Nordic great success.”

The UK-based studio also confirmed that “Sumo has concluded work on Dead Island 2,” rather than working as a support studio alongside new lead developer Dambuster Studios.
