Sony and Marvel may have parted ways, but that’s apparently not stopping progress on a sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home. Deadline reports (via CBR) that Far From Home writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are still working on the screenplay for a third solo Spider-Man movie featuring Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.
But while the writers and star of the previous two Spider-Man movies seem to still be on board, director Jon Watts is another matter entirely. According to Deadline, Watts has no current deal in place and is being courted by both Marvel Studios and Sony following the two studios’ breakdown in negotiations this week. Should Watts elect to keep working with producer Kevin Feige and stay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sony will have to find a new director to continue this Spider-Man series.
