One of the finest games available on the Nintendo 3DS eShop is one a lot of people slept on. That includes me. After Gotta Protectors released, I didn’t even bother with it for a full month as most game review sites skipped over it in favor of more popular fare. Even today on Metacritic is has just four reviews, enough to give it an official score but not enough to truly get the word out about what a wonderful little game it is. Hopefully, we don’t all make the same mistake with the sequel.
Ancient Corp, developers of Gotta Protectors and the original Protect Me Knight, announced last year it was developing a third title in the series called Susume!! Mamotte Knight: Hime no Totsugeki Serenade for Nintendo Switch. This weekend, NintendoLife confirmed with Ancient Corp. co-founder Yuzo Koshiro that the game is expected to release in Japan later this year and will see an English released next spring.
All of this is music to my ears right now and just hearing the name Gotta Protectors again is pushing me to charge up my 3DS once more and start pumping out some of those custom maps. If you missed out on the series on either Xbox Live or Nintendo 3DS, make sure you keep an eye out for it when it comes to Switch next year.
