Pixar Animation finally revealed more about their secretive new film Soul at Saturday’s D23 Expo, including the main voice cast.
The main character Joe Gardner will be played by Jamie Foxx, while Phylicia Rashad will play Joe’s mother Libba. Joe’s neighborhood nemesis Paul is voiced by Daveed Diggs, Questlove plays Curley, and 22 is played by Tina Fey. Disney also offered a first look at the film:
The panel also offered plot details about Soul — souls are all trained at the “You Seminar,” and once ready, your soul graduates. But for Joe Gardner, his life hasn’t quite gone as he expected. He’s a high school band teacher with a passion for being a jazz musician in his own right. But just as he’s about to achieve his dreams, he dies, and his soul ends up at the seminar.
