A new trailer for Titans: Season 2 has arrived, offering a closer look at the show’s growing cast of heroes and villains. But even as Season 2 brings the team a bit closer to the Teen Titans fans know and love, it’s also making a significant change to the Batman family. Titans could wind up profoundly reinventing one of the most iconic Batman stories of all time – the death of Jason Todd.
Read on to find out why we think the Dick/Jason relationship will be even more pivotal in Season 2, and why it seems destined for a bad end.
Dick Grayson and Jason Todd
Curran Walters’ Jason was introduced in Season 1 as both an ally and antagonist to Brenton Thwaites’ Dick Grayson. As in the comics, Jason is depicted as a younger, more arrogant Robin taking up the mantle after Dick left Gotham to find his own path. But while the two initially butted heads, they’ve also bonded over their mutual dislike of being bossed around by Bruce Wayne; Jason sparked Dick’s fears over Bruce finally losing control and becoming exactly the sort of villain he used to fight. Those fears played directly into Season 1’s finale, where a paralyzed Jason warned Dick that Batman had finally snapped, forcing Dick to return to Gotham and help the GCPD stop the Dark Knight once and for all.
