Apple has announced an new entry-level iPad at its press conference from the Steve Jobs Theater in the Apple campus in Cupertino, California.

The new 10.2-inch iPad is meant to replace its aging 9.7-inch iPad, which was announced for students earlier last year. The new screen size fits neatly above its predecessor, but without getting to quite the same size as its 10.5-inch and 11-inch Pro siblings.

With the new display Apple is promising  Retina panel with nearly 3.5 million pixels that offers 3.3x more pixel, 3.7x wider viewing angles than the previous 9.7-inch model.

The new iPad 10.2-inch also packs a A10 Fusion chip, which is the same exact processor in Apple’s current entry-level iPad so we wouldn’t expect it to be any faster.
