It’s hard to believe House of X is already coming to an end. How time flies when you’re having fun watching the X-Men franchise be turned on its head every other week. Issue #6 does an excellent job of capping off this first leg of Jonathan Hickman’s ambitious relaunch. It welcomes a bright new day for mutantkind, even as it leaves readers anticipating a major shoe drop to come in next week’s Powers of X #6.

While much of House of X has focused on the outside world’s reaction to the emergence of a new mutant nation, the series wraps by taking a more insular approach. This issue shows the formation of a brand new mutant government. In a nation full of powerful superhumans who can now literally cheat death, what passes for a system of law and order? Who is fit to lead such a people? Those questions are at the forefront of the book as Professor Xavier and Magneto invite an eclectic group of mutant heroes, villains and free agents to chart a new course for the X-Men.
