The sky(walker) was falling for a short while this morning when EA released the PC requirements for the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The minimum specs looked normal enough, but the recommended requirements had one eye-popping detail: You need 32GB of RAM.

That’s significant because it’s the first game to ever recommend 32GB RAM. Even the most demanding games top out at 16GB RAM. The people who have 32GB in their rig are basically just future-proofing. It’s overkill now, but eventually it’ll become a necessity. It seems like that time is now.

Actually, no. Developer Respawn Entertainment walked it back and updated the recommended requirements to 16GB RAM. Crisis averted. Order restored. For now. Some day we’ll get there, but today is not that day.
