One of the biggest questions surrounding Pokemon Sword and Shield is how the Wild Area works when it comes to online functionality. After playing the first 90 minutes of Pokemon Shield we got the chance to speak to producer Junichi Masuda and director Shigeru Ohmori for details.
The Wild Area is meant to be an ever-changing trainer’s playground. Different Pokemon appear based on the weather conditions. And if you’re connected to the internet, you can be paired up in the background with other players who are also playing in the Wild Area from all around the world. They’ll also populate that area allowing you to see trainers doing different things from Max Raid Battles to camping and cooking curry.
