Square Enix Osaka is hiring new staff to work on “HD development” for the Kingdom Hearts series.

Square’s Osaka studio has posted a few job listings requesting UI designers, effect designers, and technical artists. The roles are for work on “HD development of the Kingdom Hearts series”, with no further context provided.

The last Kingdom Hearts game was this year’s Kingdom Hearts 3, and no further projects have been announced beyond the Re:Mind expansion due out this winter. “HD development” could simply mean ‘development’ – the games are now in HD after all – but with Square’s history of HD remasters there’s always potential there. Quite what they’d be remastering would be another question, though, as much of the Kingdom Hearts back catalogue is already available for current-gen platforms in HD.
