The next World of Warcraft expansion, Shadowlands, was announced today at BlizzCon 2019. It will be released in 2020.
The eighth expansion will take players to the Shadowlands, Warcraft’s version of the afterlife. Shadowlands features five new zones, according to Blizzard: “the gleaming fields of Bastion, the scarred battlefields of Maldraxxus, the eternal twilight of Ardenweald, the opulent keeps of Revendreth, and the horrific Maw.”
Shadowlands introduces a new leveling system, “meant to provide a meaningful sense of advancement with every level achieved.” Players who are currently at max level will begin Shadowlands at level 50 and be able to progress towards the level 60 cap.
