UPDATE, Nov. 13: The Batman director Matt Reeves has confirmed that Andy Serkis has been cast as Bruce Wayne’s trusty butler and mentor Alfred Pennyworth.

Reeves took to Twitter to share the message “And here comes Alfred!” with footage of Serkis running down a red carpet high-fiving fans.

Serkis and Reeves previously worked together on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes.

A pair of character castings are being lined up for Matt Reeves’ The Batman movie, one friend and one foe. Andy Serkis is reportedly in talks to star as faithful butler to Bruce Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth, according to The Wrap. And Deadline says that Colin Farrell is in talks to play the villainous Penguin.
