I’m not sure what, exactly, I was expecting when I was told that Obsidian Entertainment – fresh on the heels of the massively successful Outer Worlds – was going to be revealing its first game developed under the banner of Xbox Game Studios at X019. Whatever it was – probably a deep-seated hope that Alpha Protocol would be given the comeback shot it deserves – it was most definitely not Grounded, a survival game that isn’t the kind of large-scale, narrative-driven RPG Obsidian has built its reputation on. And while I certainly have faith that Obsidian can do something interesting with their gigantified world, it’s still too early in development to know what the final product looks like.
