The best have been named, now we wait for the best of the best to be crowned. Next month, 2019’s most outstanding games duke it out for grandeur at The Game Awards. Three weeks prior, we’re told who’s allowed in the octagon.
Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding has the most opportunities to take home some of Geoff Keighley’s winged, angelic trophies. It received nine nominations across the awards show’s 29 categories (although seven of those categories are dedicated to esports and content creators). Remedy’s Control is right behind Death Stranding with eight nominations.
Both are represented in the most prestigious field: Game of the Year. The six titles with their eye on Game of the Year glory are Control, Death Stranding, The Outer Worlds, Resident Evil 2, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
