Sarah Finn, the main casting director behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has shared new details about how Marvel Studios placed some of their biggest stars into their respective superhero roles.
Finn lifted the lid on Marvel’s auditioning process in the November issue of The Hollywood Reporter, as she recalled how the casting team assembled the MCU’s roster of heroes over the past decade-plus, as well as revealing the famous roles that almost belonged to other stars.
Reminiscing about past auditions, Finn discussed the possibility of Chadwick Boseman joining the Guardians of the Galaxy, as she admitted that the Get On Up star originally auditioned to play Drax the Destroyer. While it didn’t work out, the casting executives called upon the actor when recruiting for Black Panther, as they felt that Boseman possessed all of the right qualities to take the mantle as the King of Wakanda.
