The studio behind the Sonic the Hedgehog movie reportedly paid less than $5 million to redesign the character.
Indiewire reports that the only visual effects in their final form were the shots in the infamous original trailer from April 30. So, when the decision to redesign Sonic was announced just three days after the trailer’s debut, the VFX team still had a lot of work to do anyway.
Their source also says that the effects artists did not “suffer” with the new demands.
