Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has opened up about her plans to move the Star Wars franchise forward after The Rise of Skywalker, saying it will be “an incredible challenge.”
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Kennedy discussed the forthcoming final act of the Skywalker Saga, along with her plans for the next Star Wars entry after Episode IX, as she shared the complexities of detaching from the original story to carve a new way forward for the franchise.
“It’s an incredible challenge, and it is something that we’re in the middle of, and I can’t even begin to tell you where this may end up,” Kennedy said. “I think whatever this next movie is, and how it begins to define a new way forward, it’s something we want to take plenty of time and plenty of conversation and careful thought before deciding exactly what we’re going to do.”
