Tesla has unveiled the latest vehicle to its all-electric lineup: the Cybertruck. The Blade Runner-inspired pickup truck will start at $39,900, with production expected to begin in late 2021.
The Cybertruck will come in three configurations: a single-motor rear-wheel-drive version with a 250-mile range, a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version that gets 300 miles of range, and a tri-motor all-wheel-drive version that is expected to have a 500-mile range. Performance will be as quick as 2.9 seconds to go 0-60mph in the tri-motor version.
The body is all cold-pressed stainless steel that Musk promises will be strong enough to survive a sledgehammer swing (which they demonstrated on stage), while the “transparent metal” glass is also super-strong, though two windows did not survive a large stainless steel ball being thrown at them on stage during the presentation.
