Google has responded to controversy that sparked after it was found that some Stadia games don’t stream at true 4K resolution.
Since Google Stadia came out last week it’s been discovered that the new gaming platform doesn’t stream the 4K versions of Destiny 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 that are available on other platforms.
Instead, Stadia renders Destiny 2 at 1080p and RDR2 at 1440p and then upscales them to 4K on Chromecast Ultra. This caused some people to complain, as Google vice president Phil Harrison previously said that all Stadia games will support 4K at launch – that isn’t true as two launch games are being upscaled to 4K.
