If you’re looking for gift ideas for the special geek in your life, how about some screen-used pop-culture history? The upcoming Profiles in History auction on Dec. 17 has some essential costumes and props from iconic sci-fi and superhero properties that will satisfy anyone’s collectible itch – as long as you don’t mind taking out a second mortgage.
The items are part of the Azarian Collection, known in collecting circles as one of the best movie/TV memorabilia collections on the planet. New Jersey resident John Azarian built up his collection over several decades. It includes instantly recognizable items like Maxwell Smart’s shoe phone from Get Smart, Gilligan’s hat from Gilligan’s Island, Lynda Carter’s full ensemble from Wonder Woman, and even an animation cel from the opening sequence of Bewitched. Now he’s unloading about a quarter of his treasures.
