While video games continue to grapple with whether or not they want to lean into politics, a decidedly less turbulent franchise is making the move to remove all politics from the kitchen table. Mattel Games has released “Uno Nonpartisan,” which removes all the blue and red colored cards from the game and replaces them with purple and orange cards.
Mattel explicitly states on Uno Nonpartisan’s product page that “without Red or Blue cards the focus can stay on the game,” referencing the politicized color spectrum of the Republican party and the Democratic party.
