For the first time in over three decades, ex-cast member Eddie Murphy hosted Saturday Night Live. Expectations were high, considering all of Murphy’s iconic SNL characters.
And Murphy gave us a lot. Mr. Robinson (his Mr. Rogers satire), Buckwheat (the Little Rascals character as a crooner), Gumby (as a cranky showbiz vet), and Velvet Jones (seller of get-rich-schemes) all made big appearances.
Decades later, Mr. Robinson’s Neighborhood has undergone a significant amount of gentrification, with some of Robinson’s neighbors now paying over a million dollars for an apartment in his building.
