With the final opening weekend box office numbers for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker now in, we can compare its haul to how much the other movies in the Skywalker Saga debuted with.
Obviously, the earnings from previous decades should be looked at a bit differently and adjusted for inflation, but it’s still interesting to see how each of the modern-era Star Wars films, including the Star Wars Stories, did when they premiered box office. It’s notable that Rise of Skywalker is the first saga “trilogy-ender” to not out-perform the previous two episodes. Then again, its domestic take is in line with initial predictions (on the low end, though).
