Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed that the MCU will be getting its first transgender character “very soon.”
In a recent appearance as a guest speaker at the New York Film Academy, Feige discussed Marvel’s aspirations to include greater LGBTQ+ representation in the franchise, as one student inquired about whether the studio had any plans to add more diverse superheroes to their upcoming roster of movies, specifically referencing transgender characters.
“Yes, absolutely yes,” Feige said. “Very soon. In a movie we’re shooting right now.”
While Feige did not specify which movie the character will appear in, Marvel’s Black Widow and The Eternals are both currently in active development, as these are the first two titles set to launch the Phase 4 of the MCU later this year.
