Atlanta’s third and fourth seasons are both expected to air in 2021, according to FX President John Landgraf.

“The plan is that [Season 3] would air, I think, in January, so early next year,” said Landgraf (via IndieWire). “And then [Season 4] would air, I think, later that year, somewhere around the fall. There’ll be less than a year break between them.”

Seasons 3 and 4 will be filmed back to back, “all in sequence,” according to Landgraf. Production will take place in Atlanta, as well as in undisclosed locations outside of the United States, which makes sense considering Season 2 ended with Paper Boi, Earn, and Darius departing for a European tour.

The Donald Glover-created series was renewed for a fourth season last August, ahead of Season 3. At the time, each season was expected to consist of eight episodes. However, at Glover’s request, Season 3 will now be 10 episodes long “because things went so well in the writers room,” said Landgraf. There’s no official word on Season 4’s episode count.

Atlanta’s second season aired on FX during the first half of 2018. To date, the show has won five Emmys and two Golden Globes. IGN also named it one of the best shows of the decade.
