If you find yourself constantly having to delete PS4, Xbox One, or PC games to make way for new ones, an external hard drive can solve all your problems (or, at very least, that one). I like these Seagate “portable” drives because they’re powered by the PC or console via USB; no need to dedicate a wall outlet to your drive. Note you can get a 5TB WD drive for $99.99 if you don’t mind waiting a week or so for it to arrive. Whichever way you go, external hard drive space is as cheap as it’s ever been, so grab the biggest one you think you might need. After all, you’re better off having too much storage space than too little.

The Nintendo Switch is probably my most-played system right now, but it’s such a pain to swap out physical game cards. (I know, I’m super lazy.) That’s why, whenever possible, I buy my games from the eShop. The only problem? The Switch comes with a measly 32GB of onboard storage, a chunk of which is dedicated to the operating system and save files. Download a couple of games, and you’re out of space. If only there were a simple solution…
Thankfully, there is. You can add more storage simply by inserting a microSD card into the appropriate slot. Even better, the cost of microSD cards has plunged in recent months. When the 512GB card listed above came out last February, it cost $200. Now you can get it for less than $80 and wave goodbye to your Switch storage woes.
