Amazon’s “get one free” promotional sale has almost an overwhelming number of options, but I combed through them and noticed three Dungeons and Dragons books qualify. That means if you buy the Monster Manual and DM guide, you get a campaign and adventure book for free.

Technically, you could buy any three items listed in the promotion and get one of them for free, but this D&D deal is probably the best one, in my opinion. It works the same as basically every other Buy X Get X Free deal: the free item is the one of equal or lesser value. Since the Monster Manual is the least expensive of the three books, you get that one for free, for a savings of $27.99.

In a nutshell, you can buy the Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Master’s Guide, Monster Manual andĀ Eberron: Rising from the Last War campaign setting and adventure book, all for $61.18 (the discount is applied at the very last step of the checkout process). You can then use the savings to turn around and pick yourself up the 5th Edition D&D Players Handbook, currently marked down to $28.33 when you clip the coupon on the item page.

That’s basically everything you need to start playing some excellent Dungeons and Dragons games, and should hold you over until the Critical Role D&D book “Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount” comes out March 17.

There are plenty more chances to save during Amazon’s promotion, but it’s worded weird. On the promo page it says “Buy 3 item(s) Get 1 item(s) free,” which initially led me to believe I needed to buy 3 items and the fourth would be free. But it’s actually buy 3 items and 1 of the items you buy will be free of charge. Trust me on this one: when you get to the checkout, you’ll see the free item reflected in your final price.

Have fun.
