A leaked trailer circulating earlier of PS5 and PC game Godfall has been confirmed as legitimate, but its developers assure players that the footage is a year old and not representative of PlayStation’s next-gen console, as it originated from a PC build.

The Godfall Twitter account posted a message confirming the leaked footage found on Reddit and various other sites is in fact real. It comes from “an internal presentation” and is “year-old PC footage” rather than PS5 footage, though.

The full statement reads:

Hey everyone! We can confirm that the circulating trailer is year-old PC footage used as part of an internal presentation. We are energized by your excitement and look forward to showing you just how far this game has come. Stay tuned for a more detailed look soon!

A Gearbox Publishing spokesperson had no additional comment when asked by IGN. The statement does, however, line up with parts of the leak, which indicated the gameplay’s earlier origin.

Developer Counterplay Games revealed Godfall during The Game Awards 2019 as the first officially announced “PS5” game, though we do know of some other games broadly set for both the PS5 and Xbox Series X next-gen consoles. Described as a “looter-slasher,” Godfall will allow for up to three-player co-op with a focus on third-person melee action.

Following its reveal last year, Godfall’s devs spoke about how it’s making the most of the PS5 controller’s new features. Godfall is set for release this year on PS5 and PC.
