The 92nd Academy Awards are being held Sunday, February 9, 2020, wherein the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences will announce their picks for the best films and artists of 2019 during a hostless ceremony broadcast on ABC.
Joker leads the pack with 11 nominations, including Best Picture. Can Joker be the first comic book movie to actually win Hollywood’s top honor? It certainly has the best chance any comic-based film has ever had to win the top prize but conventional wisdom suggests Joker won’t win that category.

Our staff has overwhelmingly predicted that 1917 will win Best Picture, even though the majority stated their preference that Parasite should win instead. (IGN named Parasite as the Best Movie of 2019, after all.)
