In February 2020, Netflix added a new feature that gives its subscribers the ability to see which shows and movies are the most popular in their respective countries. Every show and movie that makes the list will have a “Top 10″ badge on the icon. A source tells IGN that all of the shows and movies featured on these lists will be updated daily around 11:30 AM Pacific Standard Time.

The streaming giant hasn’t revealed what metrics it’s using to consider one of its shows popular. During an investor earnings call with top Netflix executives, we learned that Season 1 of The Witcher was viewed by 76 million member households in the first four weeks of its release. According to Netflix, a view counts as a subscriber watching at least two minutes of a given movie or TV show. We know that’s not much to go on, but when you’re a company spending upwards of $17 billion in 2020 with over 150 million subscribers worldwide, apparently no one’s going to tell them, “give us the real numbers, Netflix!”
