The newest Final Fantasy Trading Card Game set, Soldier’s Return, is set to release on March 28, and it is full of Final Fantasy 7 characters that you know and love. With that said, we have four exclusive cards to reveal with the most important of them all being Cloud Strife. Behold one of the rarest cards in the newest FFTCG set:

Cloud is an amazing card costing four Crystal Points or mana, to play onto the field and then search for any Final Fantasy 7 character from your deck. The card is practically paying for itself with getting a free card, and becoming a threat on the field. In addition to getting a free card, Cloud has a fairly easy removal option or way of destroying your opponent’s Forwards or attackers. Removing the top 7 cards of your deck (I see what you did there FFTCG) and paying only 3 Crystal Points, is pretty good considering your opponent’s forward would break or be destroyed immediately, versus setting up for an ability and coming up short on damage to break something.

Compared to other Cloud cards in the Final Fantasy TCG library, I think this ability is the easiest to pull off for potentially removing a forward. To top it off, Cloud gets a 2000 power buff if the card owner has at least 5 damage making it difficult to deal with mid or late game. Check out our other FFTCG Opus 11 spoilers here:

These new cards are definitely going to shake up the competitive scene. Tilika is a great card to support the always strong earth archetype. We’ll definitely see decks with earth ramp up a lot faster. Gentiana will definitely make it difficult to use some staple cards with her passive ability lock for dull Forwards. It’ll be interesting to hear more insight into how her ability affects ETBs or other auto-abilities that come from the result of dulling. As for the Chocobo, it’s yet another card to add to aggressive Chocobo decks that may still be out there.

Soldier’s Run is the 11th set adding 130 standard cards, plus 160 premium cards featuring 20 sweet, full-art card designs like the Cloud Strife card revealed here.
