A new Pokemon Sword and Shield event will allow players to catch some Pokemon that are exclusive to the version they do not own.

As reported by Serebii.net, a selection of version-exclusive Pokemon will be available through Max Raid Battles in the Wild Area. Pokemon Shield owners will finally be able to get their hands on Farfetch’d without trading, while Pokemon Sword players can catch a Ponyta in the wild.
The special event doesn’t appear to be making every version exclusive Pokemon available – it appears that you won’t be able to get the Legendaries – but logging on between March 19 – March 26 will certainly make it possible to fill several gaps in your Pokedex.

This is a rare move for Nintendo and The Pokemon Company, as version-exclusive Pokemon typically stay that way in order to encourage players to trade with each other or even buy both versions of the game.
