Animal Crossing New Horizons might be the third biggest launch in the Nintendo Switch’s history.
In a series of tweets, independent video game analyst Benji Sales speculated that whilst they’d initially expected the relaxing island sim to feature somewhere in the top five most successful Switch titles, they’d now revised this. Sales now suspects it’ll feature in the top three and sit somewhere amongst titles like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and Super Mario Odyssey.
“Animal Crossing New Leaf was the previous best selling Animal Crossing games. Hitting over 12 million sold lifetime,” they said. “I expect now New Horizons will be over 12 million shipped within the next few months.
